wilber’s birthday party

Thursday, November 24th, 2005

Celebrating 10 years of GIMP, we will have a few drinks next Wednesday, the 30th of November, in the rooms of the CCC Berlin. There’s even another 10th birthday to celebrate at the very same occasion.
Yes, we kind of promised a larger party but unfortunately noone found time to organize such an event. I am [...]

ipod hype

Monday, November 14th, 2005

Just my 2 cents to the iPod discussion on p.g.o: I don’t understand the hype and I think it’s just that, a hype. None of the players in the iPod family is an outstanding product and for almost everyone’s needs there’s a better product available for less money. You might think that an iPod is [...]

That’s not much, but given that startup had already been optimized before, it’s not that bad. Some of these optimizations are in GIMP 2.3.5 already, some have been done after the release.

Federico found g_utf8_offset_to_pointer() showing up in profiles. I remembered that we copied some of the UTF-8 code for

open usability verein

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2005

Last night I participated in the foundation of Open Usability, a non-profit association that is supposed to be registered soon, then becoming the Open Usability e.V. (see Wikipedia for the meaning of e.V.). The goal is to support efforts to improve usability of Open Source software. The first event organized by members of the [...]
